Update:  February 24

After a comprehensive search process, The Fort Lee Board of Education is extremely pleased to announce its plans to appoint Ms. Diane Collazo as the next Superintendent of Fort Lee Public Schools at its next public meeting, on February 25.

Ms. Collazo has proudly served Fort Lee students, families, and staff for twenty years. She began her career in education as a second-grade teacher in Brooklyn, New York. After moving to Fort Lee, she joined the district as a substitute paraprofessional, later becoming a classroom teacher at School No. 2 and then a literacy staff developer for grades K–8. These early experiences shaped her commitment to strong instruction and to working closely with teachers and administrators to support student learning.

Ms. Collazo continued her work in Fort Lee as an instructional supervisor for nine years, guiding curriculum development, professional learning, and school improvement efforts across the district. She then served as Assistant Superintendent for five years and, as Acting Superintendent during the current school year, continued working closely with the Board of Education, administrators, teachers, and families to support programs, respond to school needs, and keep the focus on student success. After more than twenty years in Fort Lee Public Schools, the district community has truly become home to her.

Ms. Collazo holds a bachelor’s degree from Muhlenberg College and a master’s degree in education from Brooklyn College. She believes effective schools are built on trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to students. She credits her family’s encouragement for keeping her grounded in her work and is honored to continue serving the Fort Lee community and working together toward excellence for every student.
