Title I

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESEA)

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was passed by the U.S. Congress and signed into law on December 10, 2015.  The ESSA replaced the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and is the latest reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).  As part of the ESSA, The Federal Title I Program provides financial assistance to public school districts and charter schools.

Under the Title I Program, the United States Department of Education supports schools in addressing the academic needs of all students. The goal of the Title I Program is to raise academic achievements by ensuring that all students receive a high-quality education and achieve proficiency on the rigorous state learning standards as measured by state assessments, regardless of socioeconomic status.

Fort Lee Public Schools encourages you to support your child’s education and communicate with your child’s teacher(s) on a regular basis. For more information on ESSA and Title I, including the role of parents, please review the
Understanding the Every Student Succeeds Act Parent Guide (Ed.gov).
