Safe Return Plan Updated 12-12-22
As announced in the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE)’s April 28, 2021 broadcast, in March 2021 President Biden signed the Federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act, Public Law 117-2, into law. The ARP Act provides an additional $122 billion in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) to States and school districts to help safely reopen, sustain the safe operation of schools, and address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the nation’s students. As with the previous ESSER funds available under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, and the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA), the purpose of the additional funding is to support local educational agencies (LEAs) in preparing for and responding to the impacts of COVID-19 on educators, students, and families. Additional information on ARP ESSER may be found in the NJDOE’s funding comparison fact sheet.

Parent Communication and Reopening Plan Update
Dear Fort Lee families: At our most recent scheduled Board of Education meeting the Fort Lee Board of Education voted unanimously to approve Board Policy 1648.11 - The Road Forward COVID-19 Health and Safety. This policy contains an attachment of the District Reopening Plan. In its current format it follows the recommendations of the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH). These recommendations make the wearing of masks; optional beginning March 7, 2022. This plan does describe the conditions that must exist for this recommendation to remain. If there are significant increases in school and/or community related transmission, the District in consultation with the local health department may reinstate some measures to mitigate the spread. Please be reminded, regardless of the decision each family may make, we respect and understand that decision. We will not tolerate bullying, harassment or intimidation on any of our campuses. We teach our children to be respectful and we ask all stakeholders of the same respect. If there are any questions regarding the wearing of masks please contact your child’s school. Thank you for your continued support. Robert Kravitz Superintendent of Schools
