Fort Lee Community Letter 10/4
October 4, 2021 Dear Fort Lee Community: Fort Lee is the “Place to Be.” That was the phrase I used as the principal of School #3. That phrase alone meant so much to me. It was a place that I called home. I am happy to return home after spending the last nine years as Superintendent in Englewood Cliffs and Englewood. Over the last six days, I have had the opportunity to reunite with a lot of great people and meet a group of new employees, some of which were actually my former students. The schools look great, the teaching and learning is happening, and most importantly, as I walked through the schools, people were smiling. I firmly believe that a happy place is conducive to learning. We want to build on our success and strive every day to continue the great tradition and bring it to even greater heights. I look forward to meeting more of the Fort Lee community in the coming weeks and learning the expectations of the community for our schools. Until that time, please know that we are working hard for all of the children to make Fort Lee the place to be! Cordially, Robert L. Kravitz Superintendent of Schools

A La Carte Lunch Sales
Beginning Monday, October 4th, students will have the opportunity to purchase second meals during lunch for a fee.  Intermediate and High School students may also purchase beverages.  There must be money on a student's "PayForIt" account to purchase second meals or beverages.  Balances that existed on a student's lunch account prior to the pandemic remain on the student's account.  To add funds to a student's account, visit payforit.net or send a check made payable to the "Fort Lee BOE Cafeteria Account."  Pomptonian cashiers will not accept cash but will accept checks. Lunch menus, prices, and a link to the “PayForIt” application may be found on the district website by clicking on Food Services under the Parents tab.

Parenting Tips for a New School Year
I hope you had a chance to enjoy your summer vacation, and I would like to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year! The start of school is always the most exciting time of the year as it means new teachers, new classrooms, new book bags, new notebooks, new friends as well as connecting with old friends. This is a great time to start with a new outlook. Remind your child about their accomplishments from last year, and if they did not do as well as they could, talk to them about starting fresh this school year.

ARP Safe Return Plan
The American Rescue Plan Act (ARP Act) provides $122 billion in funding to States and school districts to facilitate the safe reopening and operation of schools. In order to receive its allocation of these funds, every school district must first develop a plan (Safe Return Plan) that provides information on various areas of operation, allow public comment, and submit the plan with our application to the New Jersey Department of Education. Public comment will be taken into account prior to the submission of this phase of the grant application. Public comment will be accepted at the Public Board of Education Meeting on Monday, June 21, 2021 or via the link provided: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSebpN3JXOHh3EFptot4one9NdFL6pEelBaKWGY25v7h7Eq3ew/viewform?usp=sf_link .
